Sporting Events
OFSTED March 2018
“Staff are exceptionally positive, demonstrating that the school have built a strong culture among staff as they continually improve their professional practice.”
We are proud to be part of the Testwood Sports College Partnership. We maximise our sports funding use to benefit staff through quality CPD and training for all our children to take part in inter-school competitions. Our aim for Sports funding 2019-2020 to encourage even more children to participate in sport. We work together with Eastleigh and Saints Football Clubs to provide extra opportunity for all children to get involved with football and athletics – we are fully inclusive and ensure no child is left out. In addition we work with Totton Tennis Club and provide extra whole class tennis lessons and Totton Cricket Club to extend children’s knowledge of sports that they can try.
Interschool competitions
We believe that sport is very important for all our children and opportunities to try different sports and take part in our school teams is actively encouraged.
Sportsmanship is key to developing learning behaviours such as resilience, working together, reflection and applying skills. For our children we believe regular sport is key to a healthy lifestyle and social awareness – it has the key elements of SMSC. We know sport and exercise benefits our children’s learning and self esteem.
We give all children in our school the opportunity to compete, this may be as follows:
Personal challenge (beating their own personal best)
Intra-school competition (class v class or house v house)
Inter-school competition (school v school)
