Our Community

Our school works together with a number of different people from inside and outside our school.

Children in Need day raised £154.89 by the children wearing their own clothes.

The Poppy Appeal raised £153.21 from the sale of poppies and other items.

We encourage our parents and Governors to come into school through a range of different ways.

We have a very close relationship with our on site pre-school, Caterpillars and the Junior School. Our school is part of the local Totton cluster of schools and Testwood College Sports Partnership. The local community centre is situated close to the school.

Our assemblies are sometimes visited by the the local PC as part of our focus on keeping safe out of school. We are fortunate to have close links with our local church St Anne’s at Calmore. We have also benefited from Testwood Baptist Church volunteers working with us to improve our outside play area.

Links with our families

Throughout the year there are many opportunities to share our learning with our families eg family year group assemblies, whole school family assemblies, performances, Year R Stay and Play, Winter Warmers, end of topic work shares.

Links with Totton College

Our School Council gave the Art students at Totton College a strict brief for artwork they would like in school. The students submitted designs and School Council gave suggestions. As a result the school now has artwork from Totton College around the school. It was a huge community project and the students showed their work at a special assembly.

Links with our Junior School

We work very closely with our Junior School. We share and  celebrate together. Our Junior School visit regularly. They organised assemblies about responsibility and transition. We have Reading Buddies with our Junior School and they often come to share their music with us.

Links with St Anne’s Church

We are fortunate to have “Open the Book” visit and perform in our assemblies. This is a drama group from the church that perform stories from the Bible with the help of the  children.

Links with Testwood Baptist Church

We work with Testwood Baptist Church with our Harvest donations to the local food bank. Sarah came to talk to us about the importance of Harvest and explained to us how the food bank worked. All the donations we received from our special Harvest Festival assembly went to the local food bank. Our Year 2 children collected and sorted all the food donations so it was ready for collection.

Winter Warmers

Parents and children were invited back into school in the evening for bedtime stories. The children joined their parents and carers for snuggly bedtime stories together dressed in their pyjamas. Everyone enjoyed the fantastic selection of books from the School Library Service.

Year 1 Harvest Supper

Parents joined their children for a feast prepared by the children. The children learned all about different vegetables and cut them up to make a delicious supper for their parents. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the children were able to share what they had learned about the vegetables and how they prepared them.

Links with Hampshire Music Service

We are fortunate that our children learn African drumming, percussion instruments, recorders and the Ukulele with music teacher Sue Constance. Our children take part in concerts to parents and friends. In addition, musicians visit us in assembly to show us their instruments and play for us.
